​HEATING AND HOT WATER

You'll find the thermostat is in the hallway. Press the + symbol to turn the heating up. Hot water is available 24hrs.

SHOWER

Press the button to turn it on and make sure it is switched to ‘high’ for best pressure. Press the button to turn off – takes a couple of seconds before the water stops.

​

TV

There’s TV in some of the bedrooms, the sitting room and TV room. You can logon to your favourite streaming service on any of them. In the TV room, there is also a sky box. Turn the TV on using the ‘Sony’ remote and then turn on the Sky remote. You’ll have access to all the sky channels (not sport I’m afraid) as well as most streaming services. You should be able to cast your device to all TV’s if you want to.

WIFI

There’s no password, just click on ‘Old Pilsgate Guest’. There’s good wifi throughout the house and in the garden.

​

SONOS SPEAKER

There is a Sonos speaker in the lounge which you can connect to and play your own music. Make sure you are on “Old Pilsgate Guest” WiFi. Head to the app you are playing music through and then search for the speaker which is called “living room”. Hey Presto!

COFFEE MACHINE

• To turn the machine on, press the switch on the side of the machine.

• Blinking lights; heating up (30 secs) Steady lights; ready 

• Fill the water tank at the back of the machine 

• Inset a capsule. Blue for decaffeinated and Gold for regular 

• Place a cup on the tray 

• Press the coffee cup button on the left for a short coffee, or the right for a long one 

 

BBQ
Gas bottle is connected. Turn the dials, press the button and voilà! Please, please make sure you give it a clean afterwards so it’s ready for the next guests.

PIZZA OVEN
Gas bottle is connected. Press in and turn the dial to light. You’ll find a digital thermometer underneath the oven, pizza pucks in the outside freezer and pizza sauce in the fridge.

OUTSIDE SINK

Is connected to a hosepipe and drains into a soakaway, so you can rinse your plums, but it’s not designed for washing the BBQ in…

PING-PONG
No instructions needed. Wiff-waff away! Just pop the bats and balls back in the holder when you’re done.

​

GREENHOUSE
Depending on the season, help yourself to whatever’s growing – herbs, veg, or fruit. Feel free to give things a little water while you’re there.

​

LOCK BOX
The lock box with house keys is outside the boot room door. Walk through the back gate, follow the path round the building to the very last (third) door. We’ll text you the code on the day you arrive. Keys are for the utility door and kitchen door. Please lock up and return them to the box before leaving.

MAIN GATE
Gate code: 2307
It will close automatically after ~15 seconds. When leaving, drive slowly up to it (patience required!).

​

BINS
Bin day = Tuesday. If you could pop them outside the main gate on Monday evening, we’d be super grateful. Collections rotate each week so check what the neighbours are up to if you’re unsure which bin to pop out. Green is recycling, brown is garden and black is everything else.

​

ANIMALS
You’ll likely meet our five chickens, five ducks, and three pigs. Chickens = happy to pet or pick up. Ducks & pigs = best admired from a distance. They’re fed daily by us, so please don’t give them food.

​

HOUSE RULES

• Treat the house like it’s your own.

• No shoes indoors (slippers by the back door if you’d like them).

• Dogs: not upstairs, and if muddy/wet, keep them in the boot room.

 

OUR BELONGINGS
A few cupboards are locked – that’s intentional, so please leave them be.

 

WINE
We love wine! There’s a small selection in the dining room. Price list is on the sideboard. Help yourself – we’ll deduct anything owed from your damage waiver.

 

KITCHEN
Fully stocked with equipment, pantry bits and a coffee machine. To use: plug in, fill the reservoir, pop in a pod, lock the lever left, press the button. Hey presto.

 

LOG BURNER
In the sitting room. Very powerful! You’ll find logs, kindling and firelighters. Once lit, close the door and use the valve to adjust the burn. Never use with the door open.

 

UTILITY ROOM
Tall cupboard = cleaning materials. You’ll also find an ironing board and iron in here. You’re welcome to use the washing machine and tumble dryer too.
